Standing 66 feet high the Sam Houston Statue dominates the view of motorists on I-45. Sculpted by David Adickes, titled "A Tribute to Courage" the statue has been described as possibly the world’s largest statue of an American hero. Sam Houston was the President of the Republic of Texas, a statesman and a General who led the Texas Army in the battle of San Jacinto the decisive victory in the Texas Revolution.
